dc.descriptionThis article examines the main characteristics of journal photography from the theories of discourse that makes possible its analysis as well as the definition of its place and value in the contemporary press. It discusses that photography in the communicative context acquires a representative and communication capacity from the confluence that emerges from its character of multinodal text, in which the following problems are interwoven: objectivity and appealing to realism, individuality against the occidental aesthetic tradition, the need of printing information, its social use and its symbolic power associated to the possibility of expressing a potential ideological discourse.en-US
dc.descriptionAborda las principales características de la fotografía periodística desde las teorías del discurso, lo cual posibilita tanto su análisis, como la definición de su lugar y valor en la prensa contemporánea. Argumenta que la fotografía en el entorno comunicativo adquiere su capacidad de representación y comunicación a partir de las confluencias que surgen de su carácter de texto multimodal, en el cual se entretejen las siguientes problemáticas: la objetividad y apelación al realismo, la individualidad frente a la tradición estética occidental, la aparente ausencia de códigos, la necesidad de plasmar información, su uso social y su poder simbólico vinculado con la posibilidad de manifestar su discurso potencialmente ideológico.es-ES
